ER4043 is the choice for AC welding because its Silicon content creates a "glass-like" seal in the weld pool. The metallurgical structure of the ER4043 weld is exceptionally dense, preventing the "gas-permeability" that can occur with less fluid aluminum alloys. This ensures the AC system maintains its charge over its 10−15 year service life.

  • Q: Can I weld the copper lines in an AC system with ER4043?A: No. Copper to aluminum requires specialized brazing alloys or transition joints. ER4043 is for aluminum-to-aluminum joints only.
