Thermal System Integrity

Heat exchangers (intercoolers, oil coolers) require thin-gauge welding of fins and tubes, often using 3003 or 6063 alloys. ER4043 is preferred because its melting point (573∘C) is lower than the 3003 base metal (640∘C), providing a "safety margin" against burn-through. The high Silicon content ensures the weld bead is exceptionally smooth, which is critical for maintaining laminar airflow and preventing turbulence or pressure drops across the heat exchanger surface.
